Transfusion Medicine Physician – Children’s Hospital Colorado

The Department of Pathology at University of Colorado has an opening at the Assistant Professor level for a Transfusion Medicine Physician to practice at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. Children’s Hospital Colorado is a nationally renowned tertiary care pediatric specialty hospital with full-service, state-of-the- art, facilities supporting active clinical programs including heart, kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplantation. The practice setting involves a full spectrum of transfusion medicine clinical service, including a busy therapeutic apheresis clinic, a robust blood donor collection program, and traditional pediatric blood bank. Duties: Candidates will assume major responsibilities for clinical care as part of the Transfusion Medicine Service at Children’s Hospital Colorado in collaboration with current faculty members. Candidates will also primarily be responsible for patient blood management and transfusion medicine educational initiatives with Children's Hospital Colorado clinical providers. Active participation in medical student teaching and pathology resident training is required. Active participation in the transfusion medicine fellowship program as well as appropriate involvement in related fellowships is also expected. Academic and research productivity are encouraged. Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree, be certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in the State of Colorado. Board certification or board eligible status in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine is also required. Other board certification such as Pediatric pathology or Hematopathology are a plus but not required.
