Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry / Toxicology - Medical College of Wisconsin

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine of the Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a Pathologist or PhD Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the Division of Clinical Pathology as Associate Section Director of Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology at the rank of Assistant Professor. PhD candidates should be board certified/eligible from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Physician candidates should be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support in the medical direction and oversight of the clinical chemistry and toxicology operations at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital (Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories). This will require working closely in a highly collaborative relationship with the Section Director and laboratory managers and technical personnel, as well as interfacing with medical leadership and hospital administration as appropriate. Specific interest and expertise in mass spectrometry and toxicology is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also have major responsibilities for the instruction of pathology residents and medical students, and thus demonstrable achievement in medical and/or graduate medical education is desirable. The successful candidate will also have a track record or clear potential for development of an independent program of scholarly achievement.

The Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin consists of 46 faculty members that serve five hospitals, including Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Community Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital West Bend, and the Zablocki V.A. Medical Center. Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories at Froedtert Hospital processes an annual volume of about 8 million tests, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to provide a full menu of routine and esoteric laboratory testing. In addition to providing the on-site laboratory services for Froedtert Hospital, Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories also functions as a reference laboratory serving patients and physicians throughout Wisconsin.

The candidate will be based at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, which is the main adult medical facility at the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, a comprehensive 225-acre medical campus located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee. Milwaukee is a culturally diverse city on the shores of Lake Michigan, 90 miles north of Chicago, which supports urban, suburban and semi-rural lifestyles with excellent school systems and a vibrant, cosmopolitan and ethnically diverse community.
