Clinical Pathologist - Michigan Medicine/University of Michigan
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN
The University of Michigan Department of Pathology is recruiting for an academic faculty position in Clinical Pathology, with preference for experience or training in Chemical Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, and/or Laboratory Immunology. Qualified candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board-eligible or certified by the ABP.
Primary clinical responsibilities will include participation in the Immunology and Special Chemistry (ISC) Section performing sign-out of Protein Immunology and Hemoglobinopathy cases, clinical consultation, and oversight of test development. Short to mid-term goals of the ISC Section are to expand the esoteric immunology testing menu. Depending on candidate qualifications and experience, additional opportunities may include Medical Directorship of an ISC Sub-Section or other area, CLIA Directorship of offsite laboratories, and/or clinical service in other Pathology Sections.
A wide range of learner groups are routinely featured in clinical service activities, including residents, fellows, medical students, and MLS students. Candidates with experience in engaging and novel educational methods for clinical trainees are encouraged to apply.
We actively support independent research, and the successful candidate will have opportunities to establish or deepen clinical and translational research programs. Candidates with a strong background in data science and its expanding applications in clinical laboratories will have access to growing institutional resources.
Candidates looking to join a collaborative team dedicated to advancing laboratory practice will thrive here.
Faculty appointment will be in the Department of Pathology with academic rank commensurate with experience and track record of achievement. The Department of Pathology consistently competes in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding. The clinical laboratories serve the patients and world-class providers of Michigan Medicine.
