Vice Chair of Clinical Pathology and Lab Director - Stony Brook Medicine

Position Description
The Stony Brook Medicine Department of Pathology is seeking an academic clinical pathologist at the Associate/Full Professor level to serve as Vice-Chair for the Division of Clinical Pathology and Director of the Clinical Laboratories at Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH). The Laboratory Director has overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (including NYSDOH and CAP) in conjunction with a team of MD and PhD section directors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for strategic planning for the laboratories to meet clinical needs and will work with the Chair of the Department of Pathology and SBUH executive leadership and other clinical departments to optimize opportunities for clinical resource management and outpatient laboratory testing. The candidate will also be expected to participate in medical student teaching and graduate medical education and contribute to the scholarship of the department.

Academic rank at Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic record.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

MD, DO, or equivalent. American Board of Pathology certification in Clinical Pathology. Eligibility for New York State licensure. NYS Dept. of Health Laboratory Director Certificate of Qualification or eligibility. A minimum of 6 six years of experience as a clinical laboratory director or section director in an academic medical setting. Demonstration of scholarly contributions in clinical/translational research and experience in medical education. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in Clinical Chemistry and/or Molecular Diagnostics.
