Medical Director, Laboratory Informatics Service - Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is one of the world’s premier cancer centers, committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs. The MSK Department of Laboratory Medicine provides diagnostic clinical laboratory testing for all MSK patients. The department includes Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Cellular Immunology, Microbiology, Cell Therapy, and Transfusion Medicine and resides in new, dedicated state-of-the art building. MSK’s laboratory system consists of 8 Manhattan laboratory sites, six regional sites in New Jersey, Westchester, and Long Island, and the highest-volume hospital-based blood donor room in NYC.


The Laboratory Informatics Service consists of 13 technical staff including a manager and assistant managers and supports a Cerner LIS, Haemonetics Blood Bank/Donor systems, Title21 Cell Therapy system, WAM and Data Innovations middleware systems, and RALs POC system. The service has additional expertise in Tableau and Python which have been used for innovative operational dashboards and other analytics for both laboratory and wider MSK clinical users.

The ideal candidate should have:
• ABP certified/eligibility MD, DO, or MD/PhD in Clinical Pathology with an interest in practicing in a discipline of clinical pathology
• Subspecialty training in pathology informatics and/or an advanced degree in informatics
• Interest in increasing the clinical value of laboratory medicine data using machine learning and other computational methodologies
• Interest in participation in institutional informatics projects and in clinical service as appropriate.

Rank will be commensurate with experience and the position will report to the chair and will interface directly with the MSK Chief Health Informatics Officer.
